Kayaking to Damariscotta Island

Rainy, cold day, moderately rough seas and wind . . .  We kayaked out to Damariscotta Island, several miles off shore.  The island has a beautiful harbor.  I took the photograph below during our lunch break while I was standing on the porch of the very small, one-room "museum."  A handful of people live on the island.

The following day, a great white shark was spotted, filmed, and verified in the Motions, the same body of water we kayaked through to get to the island.

Flowers

Maybe it's because winter has riveted itself to our lives here in Maine, maybe it's because I am imagining the next several months of varying shades of white, or maybe it's because what spring brought to us winter has taken away.  I miss flowers.

Paths

All photographs below, except for the first one, were taken in Baxter Woods, a block away from home.  The first photograph was taken in Evergreen Cemetety, across the street from Baxter Woods.

I have, for many years, been attracted to, even mesmerized by, paths, by the almost infinite variety of paths in front of me.  Every decision I make is a path . . .
